West Rogers Park After School Program (WRPASP)

The WRPASP was founded in 1989 by local citizens. These men and woman recognized the need for quality child care for working parents in the West Rogers Park area. Then, as now, West Rogers Park Program's purpose has been to provide an enriched environment which encourages the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of children who require or may benefit from care outside the home; to contribute to family strength and stability by supporting parents and legal guardians in the performance of their child-rearing roles; and to identify and attempt to meet unmet family needs in the community.

Originally established in the West Rogers Park area in the St. James Presbyterian Church as a kindergarten child care center for 30 children as well as for school-aged children, the WRPASP now seeks to serve 43 children in its new location at Daniel Boone Elementary School. Today, the WRPASP offers an after school program that follows the Chicago Public Schools yearly calendar-- taking breaks when the Chicago Public Schools has extended vacations.
